Vintage Christmas

I didn't realize it has been a month since my last post. A lot has been going on and I have not had much crafting time lately. But here is my latest creation. It is a card I made for Southern Girls and the Vintage Challenge this fortnight.

The image is from Whimsy Stamps and is called Pajama Time Emma. As soon as I saw this image I thought of a little girl sneaking down the stairs to see if Santa had come yet. So I generated a sentiment in Word and there you have it. I recently bought a product called Perfect Pearls mist. I used the red one on this card. It really added to the vintagey feel to this card. Plus it has a metallic shimmer to it and I loves me some sparkles. The flowers were something I found in my stash. I just spritzed them with the Perfect Pearls, shaped them and placed a brad in the center.

Copics Used:

On a side note: Does anyone know what happened to the Feline Playful Challenge list blog? I went there to get some inspiration and a blogger window popped up saying it couldn't find the blog, weird!~

Guess My Favorite Color

The challenge at Southern Girls this fortnight is to use your favorite color. I'm not sure how successful I was in creating that. My favorite color is purple. Can you tell? lol The problem is that I usually start a card by picking out my patterned paper. This card I started by coloring the mushroom cap. So as the card progressed, purple kinda faded into the background. That's why I stuck that honking huge purple flower to the corner. I had to bring back the purple.

The image I used is called Mushroom House and it's from this week's sponsor "Make It Crafty". They have some awesome and really fun to color images. And let me tell ya, I had fun with this one. I can just picture a little fairy walking through that door. lol I didn't use too much glitter on this one, just some stickles on the mushroom cap. Go figure, the image that just screams for glitter, I don't put much on. LMBO

Winter Woodland

Winter Woodland is the challenge over at Creative Inspirations this week. This challenge has soooo much potential and I had a lot of fun making this card. Although the ribbon behind my image gave me quite the headache. lol Again this card is covered in glitter. 'Tis the season. :) The image I used is one that I had to dig into the back bin on the highest shelf of my storage area to find. This is the secind stamp I ever bought. I never used it because when I first started stamping, I hated to color. I wasn't very good at it and never liked how it turned out. It's funny how things change. Now I rarely make a card that doesn't have some sort of coloring on it. :)

Pink Christmas

Creative Inspirations has an awesome challenge this week, it's A Pink Christmas. This is my card for the challenge. I love this Magnolia Snowman and it's the first time it has been inked up. For shame. I had a crazy idea the other day that I wouldn't buy any more stamps until I used all the ones I have, at least once. LOL Yeah right. I've never be able to buy another stamp. Maybe a garage sale is in order. :)

This card caused me to have to sit through other glitter lecture from my husband. Although, I think his co-workers are slowly coming around. lol I put glitter on this snow, bells, snowflakes, dew drops, and illuminating topcoat on the snowman. Plus, there was already glitter on the patterned paper and brad. Overboard, I know. I also used liquid applique and fun flock on this cute little snowman's coat.

Copics used:

Clean and Simple is not so simple

The challenge for Dutch Dare Card Challenge this week is Clean and Simple. I have discovered that clean and simple is not so simple. This must have been my tenth attempt to make a DT card for this challenge. I'm not really that happy with it but I ran out of time. I see some stunning CAS cards out there is Blog Land and I am just in awe of them cause I struggle with them. I used my rectangle nesties to emboss and mask and airbrushed the pink background.

Copics used:
Background - RV32

No Copics.......GASP!!!

It's that time again. Another challenge at Creative Inspirations. This week's challenge is to make a Shaker Card. I tell ya it's been a while since I made one of these but it was a lot of fun to sit and try to think of a new spin on it. So my new spin was to use my nesties to cut the window. I also popped my little reindeer (from the Fanciful Holidays shapeabilities) up on dimensionals. I think it turned out really cute. It looks like the reindeer is actually galloping through the snow. :) Oh and guess what? I didn't use a single copic marker on this card. Can you believe it?

Mark's Finest Papers - Holiday Cards

Santa - I believe

Creative Inspirations has another great challenge this week, Use the colors Brown, Sage and Cream. I really liked making a card for this challenge cause I tried to incorporate those colors into a Christmas card. I love using non traditional colors for Christmas. Sometimes just using Red and Green can get boring.

The image I used for this card is becoming my favorite Christmas image. It is from Flourishes and the set is called Santa - I believe. I didn't go crazy with the coloring on this image. It is so beautiful on it's own that I didn't feel like it needed a lot. I stamped the image in Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I added stickles to the areas that should be white and Crystal Effects to his glasses.

Copics used:
Skin: E11, E00, R20
Holly: G05, R29
Glasses: YR23
Eyes: B01

Halloween Again?

I think everyone in my life will be glad when Halloween is over. lol Today I have another Halloween card to share. I made this card for the Dutch Dare Card Challenge where the theme this fortnight is what else, "Halloween". The image I used is called Goth Angel from Stitchy Bear. When I first saw it I thought it was perfect almost as it was so I did minimal coloring on this one and just added a little purple smooch to her hair. The sentiment is just one I made in word. I thought it kinda fit the image, you know with the wings and goth look. She also reminded me of Kalona from the "House of Night" novels. I read way too many vampire books. lol

Copics used:
Skin: E11, E00, E000, R20
Eyes: B01, B00
Shadowing: C1 (I also used this one to lightly go over her hair)

Glitter, Glitter everywhere!!!

Southern Girls has one of my favorite challenges EVER!!! The challenge this week Glitter It Up! Well, you don't have to tell me twice. lol I'm like a magpie, attracted to all things shiny. For the card I used adhesive sheets and ran it through my Big Shot with an oval nestie, then covered it with purple glitter.

The pumpkins were easy peasy as well. I just brush them with a little Aleen's glue and covered them with microfine glitter. I covered the body of the pumpkin first, waited for it to dry then applied green glitter to the stems. I made 6 in total so they are going to be props on my halloween table. I may have to expand to 2 tables this year though. *heehee*

Copics used:

Spooky

Creative Inspirations has an awesome challenge going on this week. The theme is "Spooky". I love making Halloween projects any chance I get. This image is from this week's sponsor "Sassy Studio" and I just love it. Usually Halloween images are cutesy kidsy but this one's for the grown ups. I tried my hand at mixing copics with prisma pencils for this image. I wasn't getting the shadow in her dress that I wanted so I whipped out the black pencil. I'll have to practice this some more cause I really like the effect it created.

Copics used:

Just Gorjuss :)

This week's challenge at Creative Inspirations is a sketch challenge provided by Nat. BTW thanks Nat for the awesome sketch. It was so easy to work with and so versatile. I'll definitely be using this one again and here it is:

If you have time, please give this sketch a try. If you enter it in Creative Inspirations Challenge you could win some awesome stamps.

As well, this card fits nicely with the current challenge over at Southern Girls which is to use 4 layers of patterned paper. They have some awesome prizes this week which are well worth taking part in the challenge.

The image I used is a Gorjuss Girl from Sugar Nellie. I always forget about these little images and they stay tucked away in a binder. Then I'll go blog hopping and see a project using one of these cuties and they see the light of day again. I wanted her to look like she was sitting on the ribbon and I think the way the ribbon wrinkled, it kinda looks like that.

Tagalicious

This is a cute little tag I made for the DT over at Dutch Dare Card Challenge where the theme is what else, Tagalicious!!! Every year for Halloween I do up special Trick or Treat bags for children that I know and this little darling is going to be one of them. I have used a Tin Tie Bag for this project which I will probably gussy up a little, when time permits, with some stamping and patterned paper.

The image I used is part of the Tableau of Terror set from Stampin' Up! There is also a sentiment that says "Have a Spooktacular Halloween" that I really wanted to put on the tag but I ran out of room. Hmmm... maybe it will go on the bag. I used the sentiment on THIS card if you wanted to see it. It's too cute. :)

Copics used:

Happy Birthday!!!

It's time for another challenge over at Creative Inspirations. The challenge is to make something with a birthday theme and this is my card. I think the paper from DCWV, I think it is the Nana's Kitchen Stack. I'm lovin' the DCWV stacks lately. I kinda go through phases.

The image is a digi from cc designs. I can't remember which copics I used on this image cause I was working on two images at the same time and I didn't keep track of which was for what image. Sorry :( I think I had every purple marker out and on my desk. lol

Challenges I'm putting this card in:
Digital Tuesday - Ribbons, Buttons and/or Bling
Party Time Tuesday - Anything goes Birthday
Karber Weekly - Go Digital
Oh la la Creations - Nothing Floral
Pink Elephant - Childhood

Some of My Best Friends are Flakes

I just love this sentiment. It makes me giggle a little everytime I read it. The sentiment and image are from the Flaky Friends stamp set by Stampin' Up!. This is a card I made for this weeks' Christmas in September Challenge over at Creative Inspirations.

I decided to use up some of the Basic Grey Christmas paper I bought last year and hadn't even opened. I also tried using Fantasy Film for the first time. I know if you heat it you create a bond between layers but I decided to go easy the first time. I just ran it through my Big Shot with the new Spellbinders Snowflake die then separated the layers to add some dimension. I also added some dimension with liquid applique (do I ever love that stuff) covered in glitter.

Copics used
Shading - C1, C00, BG000

Dutch Dare - OWH Christmas and Birthday

Hello, hello! The challenge this fortnight over at Dutch Dare Challenge Cards is to make a Christmas or Birthday card for Operation Write Home. This is the card I came up with for the design team and I have made 20 of them. I think I will make 20 Birthday cards and then off to the Post Office I go.

OWH has some specific requirements for their cards that I had a hard time designing around. Cards need to be A2 sized and *gasp* NO GLITTER. As well, I didn't think the military would appreciate a card with 7 seven layers, a bunch of flowers and an inch thick. lol It is funny how we evolve over time. When I first started papercrafting, all my cards were A2, no more than 2 layers and very few embellishments. Now, I have a hard time making a card like that. It will be interesting to see what my cards look like 3 years from now.

The image I used is from the Flourishes "Sleigh Ride" Set. I know I used way too many Rhinestones on the antlers but I had to make up for the lack of glitter, especially on a snowflaky Christmas themed card. Besides, I have about a kazillion of these little stones cause last year I was looking for a specific size and ended up ordering 2 packages of the wrong size before I finally ordered the right size.

Copics used:
Reindeer - E59, E29, E25, E53, C7, C5
Background: B37, B32
Shadowing: W5, W3, W1, W00

Challenges I'm putting this card into:
2 Sisters - OWH Christmas Card
Catch The Bug - is also OWH Christmas Card
Totally Gorjuss - Animals
Crafty Calendar - Blue & Flowers(optional)
Daring Cardmakers - Come Fly With Me

Southern Girls - Jewelry Recycling

WooHoo!!! Are you all set for my first DT card for the Southern Girls Challenge Blog? Here it is!!! I've been on a really rich color kick lately. I made this card to coordinate with the Dragon Card I made a few weeks ago. Not sure why, it just kinda felt right. The piece of recycled jewelry I used for this challenge was the chain from an old necklace I found, belonging to my hubby. I swear he is going to disown me if I don't stop raiding his stuff. First it was his toolbox, then his tackle box (which he doesn't know about yet so I hope he doesn't read this *heehee*) and now his jewelry.......

The image I used on this card is called "Princess Shona" from Digital Delights who is the sponsor for Southern Girls - Recycled Jewelry Challenge. I've seen this image a few times while blog hopping and she was always done in light colors. I wanted to see what she would look like in deep rich colors. I really like how it turned out. The ribbon is airbrushed with my copic marker R89 cause it was more purple than burgundy and stuck out like a sore thumb. I gave it a few squirts with the ole R89 and presto, it matched beautifully. Ahhh....I love my airbrush.

So as they say "Waste not, want not". Start digging through that old jewelry you don't use anymore, make a paper project and then head on over to the Southern Girls Challenge. We would love to see what you can come up with. :)

Copics used:
Dress & hat: YG99, YG95, R89, R85, R83
Skin: E13, E11, E00, E000, R20
Eyes: B01, B000

Cooking It Up With Katie - Is that sweet metal ribbon I see?

Creative Inspirations - Tag It!

I will have to make my post short today. We have been a house full of sickies since yesterday and we probably only got 3 hours sleep last night. I feel really bad for my husband cause after all that, he had to get up and go to work this morning.

Today's project is a gift tag I made for the Creative Inspirations Tag It! Challenge. No patterned paper for a change but I didn't think it fit.

OK I'm back with a few more details. It's been a long day.

This "Tilda Goes Shopping" stamp has to been my most favorite Magnolia image to date (with the beach wedding couple coming in close second). The flowers are airbrushed with RV93 and I masked the Tilda image and airbrushed wit BG000 for the background.
I used the stem on the middle flower as a charm holder. I was going through my stash of embellies and came across some hat pins with these beads. I am hat pin inept because not matter how hard I try I can't make those hat pins look nice on a project. But I was looking at the beads, then the flowers and a light bulb on. I like how it turned out.

Copics Used:
Hair: E25, E31, E53
Skin: E13, E11, E00, E000, R20
Shirt: RV95, RV93, RV91

Shoes, Purse, Bags: E35, E34, E33, E31

Totally Gorjuss - Flower

Southern Girls First Challenge

Well the day has come and the Southern Girls Challenge Blog is in full swing. The design team has been divided into 2 groups and my first official challenge starts on Sept 23rd but I just had to play along with this challenge. Lou and Tracy have lined up some amazing sponsors with some great prizes. So make sure you check it out and play along especially in the first challenge, it's "Anything Goes" so there is nothing holding you back. :)

The image I used on this card is a *Wink *Wink Ink digi image (who btw is one of this week's sponsors at Southern Girls) called Jewel. I fell in love with this little dragon as soon as I saw it and knew I had to make a card with it. I used the Once Upon a Time stack from DCWV, I think it was a good fit.

Creative Inspirations - Lace & Sparkle

This is my second week as a Guest Design Team member at Creative Inspirations challenge blog. The theme this week is Lace and Sparkle. I think I went a little overboard with the sparkle on this card. Although the camera didn't pick it up that well, I probably used about a half bottle stickles on this card. I decided to go monochromatic with this card and used all creams and browns. It was fun. Make sure to go check out the Creative Inspirations blog and the other amazing samples by their DT.

Copics used:

Halloween Gift Set

I saw this little folder for the sample bottles of Halloween Theme hand sanitizer from Bath & Body Works and I had to make one. The idea came from Erica Cerwin over at Pink Buckaroo Designs and she has an awesome tutorial. My version came about after visiting Mo's challenge blog. The theme is Halloween. Now I already did a card using one of Mo's images a little while back but I had printed two sizes of the image cause I wasn't sure which one I wanted to use. Then I thought to myself "Self, that small Mo image would go perfectly on one of those hand sanitizer thingies". So now I have a set to give to a friend. :)

I modified the measurements of this little folder form the original tutorial. This box is 3.5" x 4" where the original was 3" x 3.5" cause my image was too big. I added the goo border to the bottom flap to match the card. The image and sentiment is sponged with Black Soot distress inks. I think that gives it a cutesy spooky feel.

Copics Used:
All black parts: C9, C7, C5, C3, C1
All brown parts: E49, E47, E44, E43
Dress: YG25, YG23, YG21
Skin: E13, E11, E00, E000, R21, R20
Shadowing: W5, W3, W1
Pumpkin: YR18, YR16, YR15
Moon: Y08, Y02

Challenges I'm putting this card in:

Mo's Digital Pencil - Halloween Projects
Digital Tuesday - Make a Gift Set
Stampin' Sisters - add some form of metal
Oh, Alice! - Little Girl Theme
Bee Crafty - Anything Goes with a Digi Image

Creative Inspirations - Pastel Green, Pink & Cream

I couldn't be more excited and more stressed. The exciting part is that I am the Guest Designer for the Creative Inspirations Challenge Blog for the month of September (WooHoo - doin' the happy dance). The stressing part is that the first challenge is using pastel colors and I am the most pastel challenged person you will ever meet. So this card was made with great effort and lots drafts thrown in the trash can. lol

It's funny how sometimes you can be so proud of the little things. For me, it is the tag on this card. I made the sentiment in MS Word and doodled the little fly and squigglies with my copic multiliner. Now this may not seem like much to most people but for me it is a huge deal. I'm one of those people who stamps because they can't draw and trust me, I can't draw a straight line with a ruler (lmbo).

Copics used:
Frog: G20, YG43, YG41, YG00
Mouse: E44, E43, E42, E41
Shadowing: W3, W2, W1
Flower, Cheeks & Tongue: R22, R21, R20

I hope you get a chance to join in on the Creative Inspirations Pastel Green, Pink & Cream Challenge this week. The prize is a whopping 4, count 'em 4 free digis from MelJen Designs.

Reflection Technique

Well I have to say I have a ways to go before I've perfected this technique. :) I have an image of a fisherman in a boat and I think I will try working with that one. I have to say that I'm loving all of my beautiful flowers I got in my Wild Orchid order last week. It has been so fun playing with them and figuring out how to best use them.

I'm usually pretty random with the markers I use and I have a hard time listing them. But I remember which colors I used for this image and will try to list which ones I've used whenever possible, in the future.

Copics used:
Bunny: RV32, RV00, RV000, RV0000
Umbrella: C9, C7, C5, C3, C1, E31
Water: BG0000, B000, 0
